AS/NZS 3760:2010 is a standard created by Standards Australia that is often referred to as Test and Tag.
Is your business Test and Tag compliant?
Workplace Safety
This standard dictates a testing method and frequency for electrical appliances to minimise electrical hazards in the workplace.
Portable electrical appliances are inspected for damage, which also extends to appliances that are introduced into the workplace. Should an accident happen due to electrical equipment not being safe, the employer and the person who provided said equipment could be held liable.
Various measurements are made to the appliances' earth continuity, insulation, polarity, and physical condition. If the appliance meets the standard, a tag is attached to the appliance lead to indicate:
- The date it was tested
- When the next test is due, and
- A tracking code.
Retesting intervals of electrical appliances or equipment can vary from 3 months to 5 years, depending on the environment where the equipment is located.
Algester Electrical employs experienced Master Electricians that are fully qualified to perform Test and Tag services in Queensland.
